Here is an overview of the benefits of having a first look on your wedding day:

  1. It's a special moment shared between you & your significant other, and it's more private/intimate. Seeing each other before you walk down the aisle can help ease some of the pre-wedding jitters you may experience, too!

  2. It gives you more time to enjoy the cocktail hour with your family & friends. Cheers to that!

  3. More couples' photo opportunities! Who doesn't love wedding day photos, right?!

Every couple is different so it is important to do what works best for you both, but keep reading about having a first look on your wedding day before discounting the idea because of wedding day traditions!

SPECIAL & INTIMATE MOMENT!

A first look is an intimate moment between the two of you (& photographers & videographers lol) but it really is special. It was so fun to see Richie’s reaction when he first saw me & to share that personal moment between the two of us. It was also great to get to see him as early in the day as possible & a chance for both of us to get some of our nerves out of the way!

TIME SAVER!

Doing a first look gives the couple more time to spend with family & friends after the wedding ceremony and before the wedding reception. Typically, if you don’t do a first look, formal photos are taken during cocktail hour. Doing it this way takes you & your wedding party & key family members away from enjoying the cocktail hour! Richie & I did sneak away from cocktail hour for 20 minutes to get more pictures of the two of us, but our wedding party & family members enjoyed being able to take advantage of the full cocktail hour. Richie & I enjoyed coming back from pictures to enjoy cocktails, appetizers, and music from our amazing guitar player, too!

MORE PICTURES!

Doing a first look gives you a chance to get a larger variety of wedding day photos of the two of you! It is always great to have a bunch of pictures to choose from, especially with different scenery on your wedding day!

BONUS FIRST LOOKS

I did a first look with my dad, which was another cute & special moment. His reaction was amazing!

And I did a first look with my bridesmaids which was super cute, too! Here are the dresses they wore!
